As far as the Olympics themselves? Mildly entertaining, yes entertaining. Hum...shouldn't they be more than that? I would casually click on the TV every night, hit #5 on the remote and look forward to seeing some real Olympic Sports. You know.....kick ass, take no prisoner, old school sports. You know, sports like the original Olympics were founded on thousands of years ago.
But no...........
Did I get boxing? No I got synchronized swimming. Did I get weight lifting? No I got BMX bike racing.
Did I get wrestling? No I got hand ball. Sure, there was some decent track and field now and then, but who wants to deal with the quiche inspired sports constantly sandwiched in between?
Ancient Greek Legend tell us Hercules may have founded the Olympic Games 1000's of years ago.
I doubt he ever saw a BMX Bike, a tiny canoe, a hand ball, or did the "butterfly" while swimming.
Personally, I think the 2016 games would be more appropriate on the Oprah Network instead of NBC.
But hey, that's just me. Maybe I just tuned in at the wrong time every single night. No more "All In The Family" reruns for me either!
So, it is a few hours from NBC's telecast of "The Closing Ceremonies" ....I will watch, anticipate, and hope. Roger, please come close to hitting the high notes tonight. And Pete, please, please, please just one windmill and frantic jump in the air to punctuate these 2012 Games on the highest, purest note of all.
